Why Join BSBAC?

As the baby boomers begin to enter retirement age, there is no surprise that the U.S. is experiencing a rapid growth of the senior population. Approximately 20% of our population in Comal County is over 65 years of age. Retirement can be often be lonely leading to a growing need for places where older adults can socialize, develop friendships, and stay mentally and physically active.

Studies show that mental and physical activities can significantly reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s and other debilitating conditions, as well as improve the quality of living for those whose days are suddenly slower or lonelier.

When asked, most adults list "independent living" as their number one concern for growing older. At The Bulverde Spring Branch Activity Center, we focus on improving the quality of life for community seniors as well as supporting dignified aging-in-place to reduce the number of seniors feeling lonely and isolated at home.

In addition, we feel strongly that it is important for adults to be aware of the resources available to them before they are necessarily needed. By participating in programming at the center, members learn about organizations or programs that they likely did not know might benefit them. As members get to know each other and discuss their goals and interests, not only might our programming grow, but we share each other’s wealth of knowledge.
